CZ 457 Metal Cocking Indicator Kit – Installation Manual

⚠️ WARNING – Stiffer Spring Usability: Please note that installing a stiffer main striker spring will increase the force required to lift and cycle the bolt, and it will also noticeably increase your trigger pull weight (due to higher sear engagement pressure). While the stiffer spring ensures highly reliable primer ignition, please evaluate its usability based on your specific shooting discipline and speed requirements.

Part 1: How to Replace the Cocking Indicator

Follow these steps to safely disassemble your CZ 457 bolt and upgrade to the metal cocking indicator:

  1. Remove the bolt from your rifle.
  2. Rotate the rear cocking piece downwards to relieve the spring tension.
  3. Using your thumb or a punch, push out the retaining pin at the back of the bolt.
  4. Carefully pull the cocking piece out (be aware it is under spring pressure).
  5. Remove the factory plastic cocking indicator and its spring.
  6. Insert your new Position7 Metal Cocking Indicator.
    Note: Installing the small indicator spring is optional and is not needed for the indicator to function properly.
  7. Align the slot on the indicator with the firing pin, compress the assembly back together, and push the retaining pin back into place.

Part 2: How to Install the Lighter Trigger Spring

To further refine your CZ 457, follow these steps to install the lighter trigger spring:

  1. Ensure the rifle is completely unloaded and remove the action from the stock.
  2. Support the barrel and action securely on a bench block to relieve stress and protect your optics.
  3. Using a properly sized punch and a hammer, carefully tap out the pin holding the trigger in place.
  4. Pull the trigger shoe downward to expose and remove the factory trigger spring.
  5. Insert the new lighter trigger spring. Pro-tip: placing a small dab of grease in the seating hole can help hold the spring in place while you align the trigger.
  6. Reinsert the trigger shoe—backing off the two adjustment screws slightly will make this easier.
  7. Tap the retaining pin back into place and perform a function check to ensure the trigger resets safely.
